There's plenty of Breton/French dance / music action coming up in the next few months.
Trouz Bras will be performing at the prestigious "Club Passim" in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA on Thursday August 14th at 8:00pm. We've played there twice before as part of the "Boston Celtic Music Festival," but this is the first time that we've had the whole evening to ourselves. If you want to be there, I suggest that you buy a ticket in advance, as it's very prestigious, but very SMALL. This will be the last gig with a our bass player Brian. Come along and witness his famous "head wobble" for the last time. Their website for tickets is:

If you want to see the band AND take in some fresh, sea air, we will be performing at the "Celts and Currachs" festival in New London, CT on Saturday August 23rd. We'll be on the "City Pier Stage" from 2:00 to 3:00pm, and again between 6:00 and 7:00pm. Two different sets! No duplicates! There'll also be a Breton language session run by Lois Kuter, a Breton singer (?) named Jacki Faucheux and Art Ketchen from "Celtic Beat" talking about Celtic Art as part of the "Cultural Tent at City Pier" venue throughout the day. It's a FREE event - my favorite price.
Their website can be found at:

"Club Camembert" is back for a limited time this fall. I designed "Club Camembert" to be a Breton / French music jam and dance session, hoping that folks would come and play and jam and dance in an informal setting. I still haven't had any luck finding a permanent home for the session, but we are holding a couple of "one off" events thanks to the good people at "Le Foyer," the French Canadian center in Pawtucket, RI:
Friday September 26th
FEST NOZ - Breton community dance
8:00pm until 11:00pm
Cost: $10
@ Le Foyer, 155 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI
Saturday October 25th
BAL FOLK - Folk dances from Central France
8:00pm until 11:00pm
Cost: $10
@ Le Foyer, 155 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI
I will be teaching the dances along with Anna Godfrey, and the LIVE music will be provided by a motley crew of musicians including myself, Barry Hall from Trouz Bras, Lindsay Adler, Ariane Le Carboulec and others under the umbrella title of the "Camembert Collective."
If you'd like to play and instrument, teach a dance, sing a song or dance, please contact me. If you want tickets, please do the same thing.
"Club Camembert" is branching out into a new venture. In September, October and November, we'll be running classes on Sunday afternoons in Breton and French country dancing. We want to encourage families who would not attend an evening event to come along - kids, grannies and all. The classes will happen at "Le Foyer" in Pawtucket, RI.
Here are the dates:
Sunday September 21st
2 - 4pm
Sunday October 19th
2 - 4pm
Sunday November 16th
2 - 4pm
If you want to come, please let me know. Anna and I will be there with a stack of CDs and my trusty bagpipe!
Well, that's it for now - happy dancing!
